Podfic: they tell me their secrets (will you tell me yours too) [Sherlock Holmes BBC]

Last summer, [livejournal.com profile] lunchy_munchy came to visit and we did fannish meets. During one of them, we recorded podfics in groups. This is the first of them, at long last. Sorry it took so long, guys! Since this week is [community profile] pod_aware, it felt a good time to finish the editing. Here's today's podfic blurb:

Podfic: it's an audio recording of a fanfic, like an audiobook, how awesome is that? Fans from all over put their voices out there so you can enjoy fanfic on the go or just in a different way. To find out more about podfic, why we do it and how to get started, check out [community profile] pod_aware on LJ or DW.

There's tons of cool things being done already for podfic awareness. If you have been interested, now could be the time to check it out. =D

Title: they tell me their secrets (will you tell me yours too)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] etothepii
Fandom/Ship: Sherlock Holmes BBC, John/Sherlock
Rating: Pg-13
Content notes: spoilers for series 1, gun shooting, h/c
Author's summary: "In Afghanistan, the supplies tell him when they're running low, and the cars always, always tell him when strangers have touched them, and John gets known as having a knack (paranoia, his men call it, but he's never missed a single car bomb) for keeping his men safe."
Reader's notes: This was recorded live with 3 people - [livejournal.com profile] lunchy_munchy ([livejournal.com profile] munchinglunch), [personal profile] lunatique and myself ([personal profile] yue_ix), each taking different voices. We've edited the text slightly to fit this. The text is based on the context of John being able to hear objects. There are 2 versions of the file available: one is the regular version as we read it, and the other, "echo", has a slight echo effects added to the object's voices. Yue's the narrator, Lunchy's John, I'm Sherlock, and we all play around for the objects. It was very fun.

Length: about 13 minutes long
Downloads: they tell me their secrets (echo version) (13 Mb, mp3) | they tell me their secrets regular (14 Mb, mp3)

[ETA December 2011] A few people had trouble with the download; this one ought to work. You can directly listen or download:

They tell me their secrets (echo) by yueix

The non-echo version can be listened to and downloaded via this link.

Thanks for listening!

I think there's a problem with the download link for the echo version though!

Thanks! That was fun to listen to, and sounds like you had a ball making it. :)

Thanks for this! I've been in love with this story for ages and it's so lovely to have a podfic version. Enjoyed the effects too and the blending of all your voices. Thank you!!!

Aaaaah~

(Since I don't have a Dreamwidth account, it's hamano_ayumi from LJ~)

First podfic I've ever read, and it was amazing to listen to! <3 Your voice, Yue, was like...perfect for Sherlock. (It is bad that I kind of want you to voice Spock in a podfic...? You've got that calculating voice so down. *_*) I love how Watson's voice has this little edge of sarcasm, and of course other Yue has a great voice for narration~

It sounds like so much fun to maaaake! <3

Would love to listen to this, but cannot get either file to download. I've tried both Safari and Firefox, but only get a box that tells me my download is processing...help, please?

It's doing the same thing to me. :(

Anon No.1 again :) Thanks so much for the alternative download site. Worked like a charm, and I'm so glad it did. The podfic is just lovely - using the different voices made it more like an audio play and just seemed to bring the story to life. Wonderful job and kudos to all involved! Thoroughly enjoyable :)

Hey, I'm having the same problem as the anonymous users above me. Possibly the link has expired or something?

I know, I've never had problems with mediafire before. Thank you for re-uploading elsewhere. I'll be back with feedback. :)

Finally got around to it. I really enjoyed hearing how much fun you were all having!

(Small note in case any of you record something else by this author: the author's name is e to the pi i, not just e to the pi.)

This is so cute! I didn't know the story but it amazed me, and you read it so idiosyncratically, and with such engagement, and so cutely. The different voices worked so well, and the inanimate object effects were a HOOT. \0/

This podfic came up on my mp3 player's shuffle mode today. I'd liked it a lot the first time I listened to it, but apparently it improves with further listening, as I absolutely cracked up laughing this time. I adored the object-voices (especially the refrigerator magnet's little "YAY!"), the character voices were very...in-character, and the narration was engaging too. Srsly, I was driving around listening to this and just could not stop smiling. So cute! Thanks for making it.

The Audiofic Archive is going through the process of merging podfic entries, so that there's only one entry per podfic, rather than one per file. This means that, for example, all audiobook entries are being deleted and their information is being moved to the mp3 entry. This may cause some of your links to stop working, if you had linked to any of the deleted entries.

The 4 entries that were made for this podfic have now been condensed into a single entry here.

These links will no longer work:
